What is the best job to get to learn to become an entrepreneur? Working at a VC as an analyst? Work in Sales? Work in Marketing? Consulting?

Aaron Curtis

There isn’t a single “best” job that makes you an entrepreneur… it’s more about the skills you pick up and how you apply them. Sales teaches you how to generate revenue and handle rejection probably the most entrepreneurial skill there is. Mark cuban and i both started in D2d Sales and thats the only time i get to lump myself into a category with him haha. Marketing sharpens your ability to tell a story and create demand. Consulting exposes you to different industries and ways of solving problems. VC/analyst roles give you pattern recognition around what makes businesses fundable, though it’s less hands-on. Where the job market is heading: adaptability, tech fluency (especially AI/data), and customer-centric problem solving are becoming non-negotiable. If you can sell, lead teams, and leverage technology to solve real problems, you’ll be in demand no matter what the market looks like a few years from now. I also echo what so many others are saying on here that the first steps you should take if you are ready..is to start your own business and just learn along the way. have always loved the quote: "the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago..the 2nd best time is today"

Business Advice

If I have a sports camp business registered in Illinois and I want to run other camps in California, do I need to register the company in Cali, too?

Aaron Curtis

Customer experience & retention strategist.CXO COO

Yes! if you’re physically running camps in California, your Illinois entity will usually need to register as a “foreign entity” in California. That means filing with the CA Secretary of State and paying annual franchise taxes/fees. You don’t necessarily need a new company, but you do need to be compliant in every state where you’re actively doing business. Since each state’s rules differ a bit, it’s smart to double-check with a CPA or attorney so you don’t miss ongoing filing or tax obligations.

Is 6% monthly customer churn acceptable for a $5M ARR SaaS business? What effect on valuation does a high churn have?

Aaron Curtis

Customer experience & retention strategist.CXO COO

6% gross monthly churn is DEF on the high side for SaaS at $5M ARR. Most investors start to get nervous once gross monthly churn is consistently above 3–4%. Net churn at 1.2% is better, but it still signals that expansion isn’t fully offsetting customer loss. On valuation… high churn directly compresses your multiple because it undermines the predictability of future revenue. Investors pay a premium for “durable” ARR, which is why SaaS companies with low churn and strong net retention (NRR 110%+) tend to trade at much higher multiples. With gross churn at 5–6%, you’ll likely face a discount unless you can show it’s improving or heavily outweighed by your 80% CAGR. The key takeaway I see... growth covers a lot of sins, but sustainable retention is what gets you the premium multiple. If you can drive churn down closer to 3% gross while maintaining growth, your valuation story strengthens significantly.

Which tools can i use to grow my website

Aaron Curtis

You’ve already got two good ones in place. A few others that can round things out depending on your goals… Google Search Console & Analytics… both are free and give you visibility into how people are finding (and using) your site. We have used them at start up phases heavily. Ahrefs or SEMrush… great for deeper keyword tracking, backlink monitoring, and competitive analysis. Hotjar… if you want to see how visitors actually interact with your site (heatmaps, click tracking, session recordings). HubSpot (or similar CRM/marketing automation)… can help tie your website into lead nurturing, emails, and workflows. This is one we have particularly liked and leaned into because of its versatility and plug ins for scaling at our size we needed one that could be customized but still play nice with a lot of external third parties. Grammarly or Jasper… helpful for content polish and AI-assisted writing. The main thing is to pick tools that align with your actual growth plan; driving more visitors, converting more leads, or retaining more customers.

Content Creation

I just built an AI-powered content creation tool would your business benefit from something like this?

Aaron Curtis

Customer experience & retention strategist.CXO COO

That’s an interesting build… AI content tools are definitely becoming more mainstream. From my perspective running operations and CX, the biggest value I see isn’t just in creating more content, but in creating the right content faster. For example, customer service scripts, onboarding materials, and training decks are areas where AI can help speed things up without sacrificing clarity. On the flip side, we’ve also seen that raw AI output usually needs a human layer for tone and accuracy, otherwise you risk eroding trust. So yes, a tool like that can benefit a business... especially if it makes it easy to customize outputs to match brand voice and customer expectations. That’s the key piece most teams I’ve worked with are looking for.

Aaron Curtis

Recommend Earthclass mail or similar. they allow agents and "physical" addresses throughout the united states and more. I have usesd and relied on them for establishing business licenses and state compliant documentation trails when i resided far from those states.
