Is making a platform for employee referrals a good idea, as in an idea for which people would pay ?

I think there is a lot of improvement can be done in the employee referrals portal that are used in companies. I am thinking connecting employees from linkedin and using the connection endorsements suggest best referrals based on job profile.

Could be! You do raise a good, unexplored space of connecting and monetizing referrals. I've been working with a few HR startup types and I do know that this would be valuable resource.

The trick is the angle you take - is this 'buddies helping buddies' in a quiet, hidden informal way, or is this sponsored by and for the organization and routed through the recruiter?

Another dimension is intra-company as well as inter-company referrals - wall street and finance businesses have a lot of inter-connections and this could be an interesting connective.

I'd love to offer more suggestions over a phone call! Your purpose and qualifications will make our strategy more concrete.

Best,
Arjun.

No advice to give, honestly, since my only employer ever was the military. From my perspective, the world of corporate recruiting is an alien planet.

But if this project moves forward, do let me know. It might be a natural partner for a future project of my own.

Only you can answer that. I know it sounds like a vague thing to say, but you should just explore it further before jumping in.

I'd recommend reading ZERO TO ONE by Peter Thiel and THE HARD THING ABOUT HARD THINGS by Ben Horowitz. That will give you a clue if you should pursue your idea and how.

Believe me, just read the books and you'll know the answer when you finish them.
