Lesson

The questions ARE the meeting. A great meeting has investors asking as many questions as possible because it indicates where we should be spending our time in the presentation.

Take a look at your pitch deck. Throughout each slide there are many opportunities to present a question that can help drive the conversation.

For example:

  • Problem Statement. “Does the problem resonate with you?”
  • Market Size. “Do you understand why we’re targeting this market?”
  • Financials. “Can you see why we’re focused on these key assumptions?”

Most investors will jump in with their own questions but we’re always better off prompting their input in places that we want to have the conversation.

Take a moment to identify 3-5 places in your deck where you can intentionally ask a question, open the discussion to the audience, and hopefully start a conversation.
