Her vision for 2 Percent Health began in 2008, with components of the company having evolved since that time. Her dedication to this approach is driven by her personal experience navigating the mental health system during the past 2 decades.

Two decades ago, she transitioned her career to health IT at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), facilitating the implementation of the Nutrition Clinical Research Information System and participating in the implementation of the Clinical Research Center’s (hospital) information system.
Notable accomplishments include creating the first nutrition informatics education training (AMIA 10x10) and teaching it over the course of 7 years. She established and coordinated a Non-profit partner relationship with the Healthcare Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS) over the course of 8 years. She has presented at over a hundred industry events, blogged, and published in professional journals over the course of her 40-year career.
She began a consulting company in 2004, which she has used over the years for intriguing projects using health IT. In 2006, she founded the domain of Nutrition Informatics with a colleague, then spent 9 years advocating for nutrition inclusion in the policy, standards, and regulations generated by the HITECH Act (Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health).
