Bio
Steve Chmura | Founder & CEO, RePlastic Recycle
Steve Chmura is an experienced operator, innovator, and environmental advocate with over 20 years of leadership in high-stakes, remote, and mission-driven environments. As a former critical care flight nurse in Alaska, Steve mastered the logistics and precision needed to thrive in the world’s most unforgiving conditions—skills he now applies to solving one of the planet’s most urgent challenges: plastic waste.
After years living off-grid aboard a sailboat in the Caribbean, Steve witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of plastic pollution on island ecosystems. In response, he founded RePlastic Recycle, a cleantech company that transforms plastic waste into high-value building materials using advanced robotics, AI, and modular systems that fit inside 40-foot shipping containers.
Under Steve’s leadership, RePlastic Recycle is revolutionizing waste management in underserved and remote regions, delivering job creation, circular economy infrastructure, and climate resilience. His work has earned support from international investors, government agencies, and NGOs, with deployments underway across the U.S. Virgin Islands and the South Pacific.
Steve’s unique background blends emergency logistics, team leadership, systems design, and global sustainability—making him a powerful voice in the movement to close the loop on plastic waste and build stronger, cleaner communities.

Elevator Pitch
RePlastic Recycle is turning plastic waste into a profitable, data-driven global solution.
We build modular, AI-powered recycling systems that fit into shipping containers and convert plastic waste into high-value construction materials—on-site, in real time. Each unit is powered by advanced robotics, optical sorters, and a cloud-based SaaS platform that manages intake, inventory, system performance, and plastic credits through blockchain-backed incentives.
Our software also powers a franchise-ready network—offering local operators real-time analytics, remote diagnostics, and training dashboards, making it easy to scale impact across islands, municipalities, and developing nations.
RePlastic Recycle is redefining waste not as a burden—but as a local resource that builds housing, creates jobs, generates carbon and plastic credits, and fuels circular economies from the ground up.
