Dr. Hazem Fallouh, MD, PhD, FRCS, serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Fallouh Healthcare Limited, a medtech company dedicated to advancing cardiothoracic surgery through patented innovations. With over 20 years as a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon in the United Kingdom's National Health Service (NHS), Dr. Fallouh integrates frontline clinical expertise with entrepreneurial leadership to develop evidence-based medical solutions.

INNOVATIONS AND ACHIEVEMENT
Dr. Fallouh is the inventor of the PerDeCT pericardial device, designed for early detection of cardiac tamponade and cardiac output monitoring in post-surgical patients, addressing a critical unmet need to reduce mortality and healthcare costs. He also developed the STHpol cardioplegia solution, a novel combination of established drugs (esmolol, adenosine, and magnesium) that provides superior myocardial protection during cardiac surgery, enabling complex procedures for high-risk patients.

His contributions have earned prestigious recognitions, including the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS) Award for Excellence in Surgical Innovation. At University Hospitals Birmingham, Dr. Fallouh pioneered the Robotic Surgery Programme and established the Diaphragm Centre, introducing minimally invasive techniques such as the dual-cavity double crown repair for diaphragmatic hernia. He has advanced expertise in lung volume reduction, navigation bronchoscopy, and laser metastasectomy.

Fallouh Healthcare has secured significant funding to support these innovations: €900,000 from the EUREKA Eurostars programme (2025), £50,000 from the West Midlands Health Technologies Innovation Accelerator (2024), and £500,000 from Innovate UK (2022).

LEADERSHIP ROLES
As CEO, Dr. Fallouh oversees clinical evidence generation, preclinical and clinical investigations, international collaborations, fundraising, and corporate governance. He directs the internationally renowned Birmingham Review Course in Cardiothoracic Surgery and holds key positions in professional organizations, including membership in the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery in Great Britain and Ireland (SCTS) Innovation Committee and Chair of the EACTS AI & Innovation Committee.

Fallouh Healthcare seeks strategic partnerships and investments to accelerate commercialization, pursue FDA approval, and achieve market entry for PerDeCT and STHpol, targeting an estimated 2 million annual cardiac surgery patients worldwide.

Fallouh Healthcare is improving safety and recovery for people undergoing heart surgery. Our PerDeCT system monitors blood flow after surgery to detect complications such as Low Cardiac Output Syndrome and tamponade early, giving clinicians time to act before patients deteriorate. In future, AI integration will allow continuous lifetime monitoring to support early detection of heart failure.
Our companion cardioplegia product protects the heart during surgery and promotes faster recovery, with manufacturing now being scaled for market entry.

We are seeking £2 million to complete PerDeCT clinical trials, scale cardioplegia manufacturing, and advance regulatory clearance through the 510(k) pathway for PerDeCT, as well as market entry for cardioplegia.
