Bio
I’m a Syracuse-based macrame artist and the founder of Fiber Besties, a business I started to improve the quality of macrame art supplies.
My artist career path has been a bit unconventional—I actually hold a degree in Environmental Science. That background is the heartbeat of my work; it’s why I view fiber art as an act of stewardship and a way to explore our connection to the natural world. Whether I’m knotting a large-scale installation or leading a participatory project, I’m always thinking about how we can create with intention.
I’m incredibly passionate about making the arts more accessible. I love stripping away the gatekeeping often found in the fine art world and replacing it with genuine open-arm energy. I've been blessed to work with prestigious institutions like the Everson Museum of Art and Peters Valley School of Craft, but my favorite part of the journey is watching someone realize they’re an artist, too.
When I’m not in my studio, you can usually find me in the kitchen baking up something sweet, tending to my garden, or enjoying life as a new mom with my baby boy.
Elevator Pitch
I am an artist of 8 years, and I’ve identified a major gap: macrame supplies are currently "generic." We use dowels and hoops that were never designed for our craft. This has led to a "boring beige" aesthetic that holds the art form back. Fiber Besties is designing the "jewelry of macrame"—high-style, colorful hardware and specialized tools designed specifically for the professional-grade maker’s workflow.
